The Klickitat is cookin’ today. We’ve had more snow and more cold this winter than any I’ve experienced since moving here in 1999. I always enjoy watching the river when it’s high though the current levels are not serious and won’t do any damage. Flood stage has been reached but we typically need to get over 12,000 CFS before we even get water over the road. Looks like it’s going to peak below 9,000 CFS.
Took a couple pics at the town boat landing, looks quite different from the usual fishing season pics I post. The first pic is the spot I usually use because of the rocks a short way out from the shore, today I couldn’t get close to those rocks. I very much enjoy watching the river when it’s high, one benefit I perceive is changes made to the river. High water moves boulders down stream and scours new holding lies and fills in old ones, hoping for a good 2017 fishing season but we’ll have to wait and see how it shapes up. Happy Spring!!!
